About Ward McFarland
Ward McFarland holds a B.S. in Real Estate/Finance and an M.A. in Marketing from the University of Alabama. He also holds the coveted CCIM designation, which has been attained by fewer than 10% of commercial real estate practitioners nationwide. Ward has completed several continuing education courses with the International Council of Shopping centers and he is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Tuscaloosa. He is the third generation in his family to work in the commercial real estate business in West Alabama and has held an active real estate license since 1993. Ward has an extensive background in retail, hospitality, and investment real estate, including brokerage, leasing, property management, and tenant/developer representation.
His career began with McFarland Mall in Tuscaloosa, a family business where he helped with management and leasing of an enclosed regional mall, along with management of multifamily properties. Ward started in the independent brokerage business with Progressive Properties in 2010, continuing management of retail and multifamily properties (including Tuscaloosa’s first downtown dedicated student housing development, Boulevard Lofts). Ward continued leasing shopping center space while developing a broad knowledge in the hospitality sector. He’s been involved with brokering several high-profile hotel projects in Tuscaloosa, including development of the downtown Home2 Suites and Homewood Suites. Ward has extensive site selection experience and excellent relationships with area property owners that he’s leveraged into a steady clientele of businesses seeking development sites and buildings in the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham areas. His resume also includes investment sales, lease negotiation, fee development, and consulting with all matters regarding commercial property.
Ward joined Pritchett Moore Real Estate in 2025 and looks forward to continuing his involvement in commercial real estate and in helping to grow investment in the Tuscaloosa and West Alabama areas.
Ward lives in Tuscaloosa and is married to attorney Ruth McFarland. They have one son, Wells. He’s a member of First United Methodist Church, where he has served of several committees and is a current member of the Board of Trustees. He’s volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he’s been in numerous leadership positions and shared his passion for boating with others, teaching hundreds of people the coursework necessary for Alabama boating licenses. He is an avid Alabama football fan and a lover of technology; always working with the latest technical gear and advising others.
